The Home Games of the Stockport Team

Located only 11 km from both Manchester City and Manchester United football teams, the Stockport Football Club is located near the center of the English footballing universe. And while being so close two of the top Premier League teams can have its drawbacks, you have to hand it to Stockport FC supporters: they love their team. While they may not be in the ranks of the Premier, the team has drawn a steady stream of supporters to Edgeley Park for more than one hundred years. And while it may not have all of the amenities of the monoliths that you find in Manchester, Edgeley Park also has a personality that cannot be reproduced from the cold steel structures that the “big boys” call home.

So what can you expect when you attend a Stockport FC game? You can expect thousands of loud supporters cheering for their team. While the team only get’s around 6,000 fans per match, you will find that those fans are more than happy to be there for their team. As most home matches take place on Friday night, it is viewed as the perfect beginning to a football weekend, with the “big boys” taken the field the next night.

When you head to Edgeley you’ll find four grandstands to choose from. The “Main Stand,” which is located behind the team dugouts, holds around 2,000 fans, as well as several bars. The 5,2000 seat “Cheadle End” is the most modern stands in the park, built in 1995 and is home to many of the most prime seats in the building. The “Popular Side” (or the “Pop Side”) is home to roughly 2,400 is can be used by away fans when the team pulls enough traveling supporters. Rounding out the seating options is the “Railway End,” which seats roughly 1,400 and are the oldest stand in the field.
