In the 2011-2012 season, Stockport County Football Club played in the Conference National league, which is the fifth tier of the English Football League system. In the previous season, the team was relegated to the Conference League after finishing in the bottom positions of the English League 2. 2011 marked the first time in more than 100 years that Stockport County F.C. was relegated into the Conference League.

Football players are lining up to play for the Stockport County Hatters for various reasons. One has to do with American team member Euan Holden. The 24 year old Defender was actually born in Scotland but moved to the U.S. at an early age. Fans and other hopeful players remember his first goal for the team which won the game against Kettering.

Originally formed as the Heaton Norris Rovers in 1883, the Stockport County Football Club merged with the Heaton Norris Football Club and adopted their current name. The club was given the nickname of the Hatters by their supporters and shared the nickname with Luton Town, the center of the Victorian hat- making industry of the time.

The Stockport Football is located in Stockport, Great Manchester, and is the best football team in all of England. The Stock team can trace its rich history back to 1883 when the current team had been known as the Heaton Norris Rovers. Stockport Football club has a rich history of records and some of the best soccer players around. Since the football club was founded in 1883, a number of key players have emerged and made historical contributions to the football club, one such player is Alf Lythgoe who scored the most goals in a season. Martin Nash, a now retired football player, was a Stockport Count football player of note. He is Canadian and played with Stockport from 1996 until 1998. James Gannon, now 43, was elected as a member to the Hall of Fame during his tenur at Stockport. He played for the club for ten years from 1990 to 2000. He has gone on to manage teams.
